Behind the Scenes
The Queen’s Handbag was the highlight of the Children’s Party at the Palace, an event to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 80th birthday.
2000 children aged 4 to 14 and 1000 adults were selected by ballot to attend the party.
Queen Elizabeth’s birthday is actually on 21 April, but the celebrations always take place in June.
Rupert Grint and his co-stars Emma Watson and Matthew Lewis attended the Children’s Party and sat in the royal box during the play, right in front of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. J.K. Rowling was also present and read out of her books during the party.
